Hi,
I'm looking to connect with other single moms living in Alameda. I have a 17 mo. old son and I am considering the option of co -housing
with another single mom (or dad) for sharing responsibilities and to make life a little easier! Anyone out there having the same thoughts?
Wish you could go out without hiring a babysitter? Wish someone else would make dinner or do laundry once in awhile? Want to continue to afford living in Alameda?
Connecting regardless of housing would be great too. :)
Rusty, are you still thinking of moving?

Re: Single Moms?
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 9:25 AMI am going to stay put unless something really super awesome comes up. I'm in a great place in the school district I want to be in, so not much motivation to leave.
But I'm certainly up for hanging out with the kiddies. ;)

Tue, March 25, 2008 - 6:21 PMMs T,
did you ever check out the babysitting co-op?
let me know if you ever find someone to do laundry for you! ;) i almost have my kids trained, but there's always homework, sports or something gettin in the way.
i hear from my 16-year old niece, that there's a babysitting club at the high school. they do charge and like the co-op, you have to plan/arrange well in advance.

Re: Single Moms?
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 3:40 PMHi T-
I'm a fulltime single dad in Alameda, no real desire to move because I have a pretty good deal on an apartment (1100 for a 2 bedroom for 5 year old and me). Once upon a time I tried to throw something together that you posted here but it never came to be. In an ideal world it sounds great and I think I'd actually like to live with other single parents and share responsibilities and babysitting, etc - but I don't see it happening right now.
I'd love to connect with other single parents regardless though. :) -

Mon, March 31, 2008 - 8:08 PMHi Fluffy.... I'll PM you : D
Jodi, can you send me more information about the babysitting co-op? I didn't know about it .
Sigh....single parent co - housing seems as brilliant an idea as carpooling.... and equally as hard to manifest.

Re: Single Moms?
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 8:24 PMoh no, i'm the queen of arranging carpools! i've got pick-up duty 2 days a week after soccer with 7 kids. but i know the other moms have my back for delivery when i'm stuck at my desk.
you can do it when it's time T. :) i know you can!
it's a matter of making it happen... when everyone in the group wants the same goal and willing to tow the line 110% because someone invariably will slack a bit.
i've sent an email to the parent at my kids' school who used to be in the co-op and also to my niece about the baby-sitters' club. i'll forward to you whatever answer i get!
