I heard that the Mervyn's at South Shore (Towne Centre) is closing in July :( My friends have heard that Kohl's will be coming in. I'll miss Mervyn's even though I rarely go anymore. Not too excited about Kohl's.

I may be confused, but I think they may be related, ala Old Navy-Gap-BR.
The quality of the stuff is pretty similar, although Kohl's does carry Vera Wang cheapy line. -
