Re: Trustworthy Auto Mechanic on our fair isle?
Tue, January 1, 2008 - 4:14 PMCliff at the Chevron on Webster and Buena Vista. He was highly recommended when my distributor died at the dog park. I had to have my vehicle towed at night, and my normal mechanic is in SF. I called around, and even Fred's Wrenchouse (across the street) gave Cliff the thumbs up. Of course, it cost an arm and a leg, but I own an 88 Landcruiser, so that's on me. . .

Re: Trustworthy Auto Mechanic on our fair isle?
Wed, January 16, 2008 - 8:03 PMI need to find an Island mechanic too, so thanks for this thread and keep the advice/recommendations coming.
How much should a "tune-up" cost? What should I make sure is included---I don't want to show up at any mechanic sounding like the typical "girl" who doesn't know much about cars (even though I don't). I have a Toyota RAV. -

Fri, January 18, 2008 - 12:26 AMMargo - When you find a good RAV mechanic let me know! We have a RAV that needs tons of work.... I'm afraid to go to the Toyota dealership because I think i will be too pricey. -

Re: Trustworthy Auto Mechanic on our fair isle?
Fri, January 18, 2008 - 9:26 AMI can't say that I know much about the cost of a tune-up, but I just had a great experience with Frank's Wrench House (on Buena Vista at Webster) . He was honest and timely and did the job for less than my estimate. I found him through friends, but his reviews on Yelp are all really great too. He works on foreign and domestic cars.
