Thu, July 3, 2008 - 2:29 PMMaybe if they didn't charge $38 for a $10 t-shirt and the like, they'd still be in business!? -

Re: adios happy trails
Tue, July 15, 2008 - 2:05 PMHello,
As the buyer for the business I can assure you that cost was always on our mind. Very few of our T-shirts were $38.00. And the price you pay depends on what we pay. We pay a lot, you pay a lot.
Having said that, I want to thank everyone who has shopped with us for the last 5 years. We will miss each and every one of you. We are keeping the web site up and hope to have you visit. We are going to try to get a little store going in Bakersfield to help run the web site from.
The reason that we are closing the store is that economic times are hard. People have less to spend so when you need gifts and goodies you tend to spend less and therefore sales go down. We hope to ride out this economic wave and then be able to get back to more mainstream locations.
Happy Trails,
Cassie -

Fri, July 18, 2008 - 9:52 PMthank you for being open when you were.
I found an awesome wiener dog tee, and bought my I love Alameda license plate frame there.
Sad to see you go.
As a person who runs a t-shirt program, I know how expensive clothing can be. Sorry to see you go.

Re: adios happy trails
Mon, July 14, 2008 - 7:46 PMThey said they're closing their SF store, too, but will keep the website and open a store in Bakersfield.
Bakersfield? I wonder if the owner has aging parents or something.
The store is getting pretty empty, but there's still stuff there. Get your devil ducks now! -

Tue, July 15, 2008 - 3:06 PMhi Cassie,
Thanks for posting. As a business owner (of high end gift items) I can greatly sympathize with the Happy Trails folks and I am sad to see you go! My parking angel and I wave good bye...... -

My guess is that retail space in Bakersfield is much less expensive in Bakersfield than Alameda or SF
