Man, 78, killed in hit-and-run at Crown Beach

(07-05) 12:45 PDT -- A 78-year-old man was killed while taking a stroll on a pedestrian walkway at Crown Beach in Alameda in a hit-and-run incident Saturday morning, Alameda police officials said.
The police said Dionisio Molina, 36, of Alameda was driving a green Jeep Cherokee on the pedestrian walkway on the south side of the 2000 block of Shoreline Drive in Alameda. He hit the pedestrian just before 5:30 a.m. and continued eastbound on the walkway, striking several stop signs and light poles.
Molina was arrested several blocks away from the crime scene, in the 2400 block of Shoreline Drive, after a witness, who reported having to jump out of the way of the vehicle, called police to report reckless driving. Molina is being held on suspicion of felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter.
The unidentified victim was declared dead at the scene.
