Dish has the best DVR of any service, hands down. I just moved to a place that doesn't allow Dish, so picked AP&T which became comcast before they even hooked it all up. The internet is FAST but their DVR's really suck. Sofar no outages at all. I get my (PacBell) DSL through Sonic.net, which helps on the customer-service end of things - Sonic actually has a clue, and if it really is PacBell's problem, they know how to get results from PacBell. Alameda was one of the few places where you had choice in cable providers, and now comcast swallows up yet another local operation and reduces the amount of choice available. I'd go with Dish and a DSL line, but it looks like DSL is not well supported in Alameda.
